Britney Spears' Hair on Sale for $1,000,000

If you follow the international entertainment news in the past couple of days, you might have heard of the story of Britney Spears shaving off her hair after a series of headline events. And yes, oops!, she did it again! This time it's insane that her hair could be a piece of stuff to be on sale at an incredible price of 1 million US dollars. Read the news from BBC by clicking here. First, the salon owner that Ms. Spears went to shave her hair claimed to post an auction on EBay website but was eventually cancelled for unknown reason. Then, there is a website setting up for this purpose. Check it out at "Buy Britneys Hair Dot Com." There are couple of photos depicting a pile of hair with "Red Bull" energy drink and a lighter to prove the authenticity of the "hair." I doubt if those items could be of any proof.

Well, I wish I could sell my own hair at this price - or half the price, or even at one percent of this crazy price. This is a weird world indeed.

    Nike :: Wall of Expression

This is enjoyable. Try browsing through "NIKE" website in Thai and find your way to the "Wall of Expression" or click here for the direct link. There you could create your own graffiti or the writing on the wall to express yourself. I have already created one at the wall number '0354.' Moreover, you may also save all the graphics as a token from the digital wall to your desktop wallpaper. Stylish, isn't it?

デスノート a.k.a. Death Note - from comic to movie and animation

Originally "Death Note" is a Japanese series of comic illustrated by Takeshi Obata based on a well-defined plot and story by Tsugumi Ohba. There are totally 108 chapters in 12 volumes of graphic novel reprinted from Weekly Shonen Jump (Japanese weekly comic book) which serialized from December 2003 to May 2006. The comic is a huge success and could be considered as a phenomenon when it was banned from the school in Shenyang, China because the authorities feared that it could poison and create wicked hearts in the students.

The story of "Death Note" is centering around a young high-school boy named "Yagami Light." One day he found a mysterious notebook called "Death Note" which is a tool of the God of death to kill anyone with the name written on it. Soon after he realized that this supernatural notebook is real and the God of Death do exist, he decided to use it to get rid of all crimes and criminals in the world. It might be a good intention but it's impossible to be a god. After some unexplainable deaths occurred, he is hunted down by the police with the help of "L", the world's top-rated detective. A wit-testing cat and mouse chase is about to begin...

Later, a set of 2-part live-action movies is released in Japan - the first part on June 17, 2006 and the second part on November 3, 2006. The movie is a huge success at Japanese box-office. The success of the comic spanned to TV animation and there is a plan of 37 episodes animation airing on Nippon Television from October 4, 2006 to July 13, 2007.

Let's see what's next for "Death Note" franchise. An American remake of the movie? Who knows?

It's Good to be ... Mariah Carey

A Crash Course on Lifestyles of the Filthy Rich and Famous.

"It's Good to be ..." is an entertainment documentary show originally created by E! channel back in 2003. The 30-minutes show takes an up-close and exclusive look at Hollywood's hottest stars and celebrities. Unfortunately, the show was terminated shortly after the start of its second season and there were mere 31 episodes in total. Mariah Carey was featured in the 29th episode of the show which was first aired in the states on July 18th, 2004.

In Thailand, you could catch a Thai language dubbed version of this show every Sunday at 20:30 on Modern 9 TV. Mariah Carey episode will be on air this coming Sunday (March 6th, 2006,) a year and a half after it's first shown in the states. Well, like an old saying goes, it's better be late than never. At least, Mariah Carey fans as well as viewers in Thailand will finally have a chance to watch how fabulous, gorgeous and outrageous Mariah and her lifestyle is. So, mark your calendar and stay tune.

    1リットルの涙 a.k.a. A Diary with Tears

This morning, I received a mysterious mail package without a sender's name and address. Inside an envelope was a self-made DVD with a beautiful screen image and a Japanese title called 「1リットルの涙」. I realised that it was an 11-episodes Japanese drama series. The series is based on true story of Japanese girl named Kito Aya, who was diagnosed with a strange and incurable disease called "Spinocerebellar degeneration," which causes the deterioration and disappearance of the nerve cells in the brain necessary for the body to function properly. The patient with this disease will eventually be unable to walk, talk or write. Even holding a pen or standing still is impossible. Aya had kept writing a diary of her everyday life since she was diagnosed with the disease at the age of 15. The diary was being published after her death at the age of 25 in order to deliver a simple yet inspiring message of "Just being alive is such a lovely and wonderful thing.

I have just finished watching the first episode. The script is well balanced with serious moments and comical relieves. However, I had a strong feeling that it would get more tragic and serious in the upcoming episodes till the ultimate ending according to the true story. Anyway, it's interesting to see how the story will evolves. At least, the theme of the story is encouraging. Last but not least, the leading actress (Sawajiri Erika) is not only very cute but also delivers a remarkable performance.

For more information, you could visit the official website of this drama series at Fuji Television.

P.S. Thanks the mysterious sender who sent me this wonderful Japanese drama series. You know who you are.

    Brobdingnagian DVD Boxset

I have just come across some unusually huge DVD boxsets at amazon.com. Well, the box of the DVDs themselves might be enormous, but the number of discs in each DVD set is even greater. I think it's the most number of discs per boxset I have ever heard of. I am talking about "Buffy the Vampire Slayer - The Chosen Collection" which contains a grand total of 40 DVD discs in one boxset, 39 of which are all 144 episodes of the series from its first to its seventh and final season, while another bonus disc contains special features such as casts & crews interviews and other Buffy-related documentaries created especially for the collection. The boxset will be released on November 15, 2005 in the states with the suggested retail price of $199.98. That's about $5 per disc which is a real bargain for DVD in the USA. You could even get it cheaper by pre-ordering the set from amazon.com at $169.99. Click for more detail.

Another super colossal boxset with an equal number of discs to "Buffy's" is no other than the legendary sit-com "Friends - The One with All Ten Seasons." Packed with all episodes from all 10 seasons of the series, the set will be released in a limited edition collector's box. It will also be on sale on November 15, 2005 in the states with the suggested retail price of $299.98. You could save more by pre-ordering it from amazon.com at $199.99. Click for more detail.

There is also another gigantic boxset to be released. It's "Sex and the City - The Complete Series (Collector's Giftset)" which contains less but still high number of 20 DVD discs: the complete series (season 1 - season 6) on 19 discs plus a bonus disc. This item will be released on November 1, 2005 in the states with more expensive suggested retail price of $299.95. You may pre-order it at amazon.com now to get a discounted price of $194.97. Click for more detail.

I am sure there would be more monstrous DVD boxset to be released in the future. It might seem unfair for those fans of the series who have already bought each seasons DVD boxset when it came out. It's just another marketing strategy. For those who own the individual season boxset, don't sweat or swear with things you couldn't control. You have to think on the brighter side that you had a chance to enjoy your favorite show much longer before those who haven't owned the set yet.

    Are TV Characters' Salaries Realistic?

I came across this article on the other day at MSN Careers. The author tried to point out how unrealistic TV characters' salaries compare with their lifestyles. A clear example is shown from an extravagant lifestyle of Carrie Bradshaw (a character from the famous HBO series "Sex and the City") who has a job as a sex columnist in a New York City newspaper. Her glamorous lifestyle is by no means possible for a median annual salary of about $57,000 for a journalist with 10 years of experience in real-life. Even a person like Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston's famous character from "Friends,") who serves coffee in the neighborhood coffee-shop, could pay for a rent on an enormous New York apartment and has some money left to spend on her shopping. That's impossible but it's TV show. Almost all of TV characters seem to lead a wonderful life. At least, they always look good.

    Hong Kong Disneyland

Today, The new Disneyland in Hong Kong is officially open to public and, just as expected, the limited entrance tickets for the first day were all sold out. With tones of well-known Disney's characters and attractions, the theme park is predicted to generate high volume of revenue and boost the economy of Hong Kong in a considerable scale. Analysts claim that Hong Kong's GDP will have more than 7% growth next year due to Disneyland alone. Tourists, especially from the main land China and South-East Asia, would definitely choose Hong Kong as a family vacation's destination.

Mariah Carey & FHM Thai Edition September 2005

FHM (For Him Magazine) Thai Edition featured the sexy pose of Mariah Carey on its cover this month. It's been a long time since MC was last seen on magazine cover in Thailand, not to mention FHM. In fact, this set of pictures was first published in FHM UK Edition a few months ago in the time of the release of her new studio album "The Emancipation of Mimi." The coming back of Mariah on FHM Thai Edition this month could be marked as a special occasion; as the upcoming Billboard Hot 100 Chart for the week ending of 10 September, Mariah will set a new record as the first female artist to have both Number 1 and Number 2 on top of the chart at the same time. The single "We Belong Together" has spent 14 weeks on the top position, making it a five-way tie for the second-longest running Number 1 on the chart history, while the single "Shake It Off" claims up 2 spots from Number 4 to Number 2 with another "Greatest Gainer / Airplay" status - it is the third week that this single got this status. We will have to see if "We Belong Together" could make it at the top of the chart for another 3 weeks to break the record of 16 weeks on Number 1 of Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day," or "Shake It Off" will make it to the top and become Mariah's 17th Number 1 single.

I am sure September would be a hot month for Mariah both on Billboard Chart and on magazine stand here in Thailand. [See a cover of FHM Thai Edition September 2005 below]
